the seven facts about mary alice and lu

My friend Melanie tagged me in this game. You are supposed to share seven interesting facts about yourself, and then "tag" seven friends to do the same. :) Since this is blog is primarily about Lu, I'll share some items about this pregnancy. I invite my regular readers to do the same by leaving a comment! Share something about yourself that I can share with Lu when she's older! :)

Okay, here it goes:

1. Compared to other pregnant moms on my message boards, I have had a very smooth pregnancy, and for that I am extremely grateful. The morning sickness was manageable, the aches/pains have been bearable, and my partner has been incredible.

2. Somedays when Lu is really active, I will sing to her REALLY loudly, and she'll stop whatever she's doing. I think she's already scared of my singing voice....

3. If I could change one thing about this pregnancy it would be to have our families closer to share all of the experiences first hand. (I miss you guys....)

4. Labor doesn't scare me. I realize that women have beeen doing this since the beginning of time. With that said.... I am probably going to be getting an epidural.

5. If I could eat apple pie for the remainder of carrying this child, I would be the happiest woman alive.

6. When Jon is away on trips, I have long detailed conversations with Lu about all of the people she will meet when she arrives. (it really helps pass the time)

7. I tried a mother's group, and I don't feel bad for not "fitting in" with them. Lulu and I will find one that fits both of our personalities! :)

I don't think I have seven regular bloggers that follow my site (with a blogger.com site), so I'm leaving it up to you to share your facts in the comments! :)

Love you all!

Movie Star???

I talked to my sister Beth tonight, and she informed me that the main character in 50 First Dates is named Lucy Whitmore. Now, I know it's not exactly the same, but it's VERY close. Lucy Whitmore/Whittemore... come on! We're only 2 letters off.... Is that too weird? or do you think anyone would even notice/care?

Thoughts and opinions are appreciated...

First Mom Group Event

So, after perusing the Internet last night for different pregnancy message boards, I stumbled across cafemom.com, and signed up. I really like my WhatToExpect.com message boards, but I was bored and just looking for a change. Anyway! It turns out that the cafemom Milwaukee women are meeting for a luncheon today at noon! So.... I'm going! This will be my first "Mom" event, and I'm a little nervous, but I'm sure it will be okay.

I guess the next step is a mini van??? eeek! I am not quite ready for that step! :)

22 weeks!!!

Update

Jon just sent a picture text with the freshly painted walls!!!! It's VERY pink! I can't wait to get home so I can take a look at it. The furniture is also going back in there tonight! I am so excited!!

D'Lynn.. the first name is just going to be Lucy, not Lucille.. so vote accordingly.. ;) We've actually just been calling her Lu for a long time now. The name Lucy just seems SO long now!

Thanks for the heartburn remedy recommendations!! I have been eating Tums like crazy, and that seems to help. I'm hoping you're right, Libby! I hope she has TONS of hair!! It's great to see your name in the comments!

Be looking for an updated belly pic tonight. It was taken last night, but I did not get around to posting it. She's definitely growing like crazy!

Love you all!

Rainin' FIRE!

We were hoping to post pictures of Lu's finished bedroom tonight, but the evening took a funny turn. We went to ACE Hardware to get the paint earlier this afternoon. We were both excited to get started, so we masked the room with lightning speed. The room is Ninja Turtle Green right now... not acceptable for little Lu. Jon was a trooper, and was painting the ceiling while I was painting her dresser. We were on the second coat, when Jon accidently bumped the light fixture with his roller. SPARKS FLEW! Half of our house went dark, and the painting was over. :(

We called an electrician and they will be over on Monday morning. We're hoping it is sunny tomorrow so we can paint by day light instead. The wiring in the house is just really old. We took down the fixture to see if we could fix it, and the ceiling was charred... time for a new fixture, and more importantly, new wiring.

So, in the meantime, I will only be able to show you the "before pictures" of the room. The after pictures will be spectacular, I promise.

Uncomfortable!!

This might be the most negative post on the blog. I have to say it though. I am SO uncomfortable today. I just can not find a comfortable position to sit in! It feels like Lu is bouncing off my bladder and hitting my lungs. (that might sound impossible, and it probably is.. but that is how it feels.) Anyway.. I've tried walking around to see if she'd settle into a different area, or if she'd just go to sleep for awhile.. but she's on the go. I'm sure she's probably bored as heck in there, but I just want a small half hour break. Just some nice quiet time with maybe a small little kick here and there. AHHHH!!!!! I know it's going to get even more crazy as time goes on.. and even crazier yet when she's here. I shouldn't even complain because I am grateful that she's so active and healthy. It's just so hard to concentrate on ANYthing when she's literally pretending to be a gold medal gymnast.

For all of you moms out there - What heartburn remedy seemed to work the best? I've tried Tums. I'm very hesitant to take any other medication besides Tums. Did any natural remedies work for you?? Somedays it feels like Lu has set her house on FIRE!

All in all, I am enjoying this time. I'm very blessed to be at such a wonderful place in my life with a wonderful man. I just wish my wonderful child would take a little nap!

Be sure to vote on the middle name!! I'm keeping the poll open until New Year's Eve!!

Hopefully I'll get a new "bump pic" up soon. She's obviously getting bigger!!!!!

Love you all!

Lu's first concert!

Tonight Jon and I invited our next door neighbors Jake and Sierra to a free concert! We saw the Zac Brown Band... and they were phenomenal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Zac Brown and the fiddle player were our favorites, but everyone was freakin' amazing!

When the songs ended, Lu would still be "dancing." It was so fun to feel her react to the music. HOPEFULLY she won't be like her mother and stop taking piano lessons! Music is so important!

I've added one of my favorite songs they played tonight. I hope you all enjoy it!

Love,

Jon-Mary-Lucy

it's my birthday!!!!!

What a fun day! We feasted on a breakfast of bacon and eggs that Jon made. We even got creative and had mimosas!! (substituting champagne for Squirt soda...) In the midst of his preparation, the neighbors came over with monkey bread (sticky gooey delicious-ness with pecans on the top)! It was VERY delicous. So... by ten am, I had already consumed my caloric intake for the day. ;) The rest of the day was spent napping in front of the tv with a very full belly.
Then! Jon made a double decker birthday cake! We invited our friend Kevin over to enjoy some of it. After that, we went to Potawatomi Casino for the Prime Rib and Crab Leg Buffet!! O-M-G. Yummmm-o! The casino was hosting a free comedy show after dinner, so we watched that too.
Lucy was most active during our buffet dinner. She either strongly disliked or strongly agreed with what I was consuming. I can't tell the difference between a happy kick and a not-so-happy kick.
Today we are snuggled on the couch watching Sunday football. We've had snow flurries all morning, but nothing has stuck so far. I'm hoping we can just hold off a little while longer with the winter weather. Poor Maggie's walks are getting shorter and shorter every night.
I hope you all had a great weekend! I love and miss all of you!!!!
